Wakestock 2008 - Post Event News: (16/07/08)
Relentless WAKESTOCK 2008 - If you missed it you missed out - But don't worry its on Channel 4!

The ninth annual Relentless Wakestock Abersoch 2008 has been and gone and for all the loyal fans that made the trip to the Llyn Peninsula for a full on weekend of festival, beach & wakeboarding action, the organisers would like to say a big Thank You! Thousands of you packed your bags for the weekend and despite dubious forecasts the unique Abersoch climate kicked in and we saw plenty of sun, and all of you who attended helped make the event the best yet!

It was obvious everyone was in full party mode and were treated to amazing sets by Groove Armada, Mark Ronson and the Version Players, The Streets, Funeral for a Friend, Duffy, Happy Mondays, Pendulum, Calvin Harris, Hadouken and many more. Radio 1 djs Jo Whiley, Zane Lowe and Huw Stephens were also on hand along with XFM's Lee Haslam, Clint Boon & Gareth Brooks to make sure everyone was bouncing through all 3 nights! Relentless Wakestock 2008 also welcomed up on the festival site the return of the Pool Gap for the third year. The pools, containing 200,000 gallons of water, played host to the Vans Rococo Rail Tour featuring some of the best wakeskating and wakeboarding in the world right in front of the Open Air Main Stage.
What a weekend and what a success! Just like at Blenheim Palace the Relentless Wakestock party vibe kicked in with full force and the Wakestock crowd did us proud. The organisers thank you for all your amazing feedback and making 2008 the best one yet. There are already some really exciting developments coming together for next year, so keep checking the website www.wakestock.co.uk It is fair to say that Relentless Wakestock went down a storm, but just you wait for 2009 - Wakestock's 10th Birthday!

Wakestock 2008: (07/07/08)
The Relentless Wakestock 2008 ended last night after 3 days of wakeboarding and music. The forecasted deluge of rain over the weekend never materialised and this extremely well organised event appears to have been a great success. One of the highlights of the weekend was local girl Duffy's "homecoming" performance on Sunday evening. She joined a host of other big name groups who played over the weekend including Mark Ronson, The Streets, Groove Armada and many more.

The mens wakeboarding event was dominated by North Americans with the winner being Adam Errington (USA) with Danny Tholander (USA) second and Aaron Rafferty (Can) third. UK rider Jules Healey won the ladies competition with Kath Moore (Australia) second and Jess Hilberry (UK) third. The Friday evening Big Air competition, which was held in very choppy conditions, was won by Danny Tholander.

Photos from the event will appear over the next few days at John Wormald's website at www.totallyabersoch.co.uk and a selection of his photos can be viewed below. Keep an eye out on the www.wakestock.co.uk for more news and photos.
