Wakestock 2008 - Post Event News:
(16/07/08)
The ninth annual Relentless Wakestock Abersoch 2008 has been and gone and for all the loyal fans that made the trip to the Llyn Peninsula for a full on weekend of festival, beach & wakeboarding action, the organisers would like to say a big Thank You! Thousands of you packed your bags for the weekend and despite dubious forecasts the unique Abersoch climate kicked in and we saw plenty of sun, and all of you who attended helped make the event the best yet! It was obvious everyone
was in full party mode and were treated to amazing sets by Groove Armada,
Mark Ronson and the Version Players, The Streets, Funeral for a Friend,
Duffy, Happy Mondays, Pendulum, Calvin Harris, Hadouken and many more.
Radio 1 djs Jo Whiley, Zane Lowe and Huw Stephens were also on hand
along with XFM's Lee Haslam, Clint Boon & Gareth Brooks to make
sure everyone was bouncing through all 3 nights! Relentless Wakestock
2008 also welcomed up on the festival site the return of the Pool Gap
for the third year. The pools, containing 200,000 gallons of water,
played host to the Vans Rococo Rail Tour featuring some of the best
wakeskating and wakeboarding in the world right in front of the Open
Air Main Stage. WAKESTOCK ON TV S4C - Thursday July 17th
at 9pm. A 45 minute programme focusing on the music and some sport (repeats
July 19 on digital only, 23 July on digital only) OFFICIAL MERCHANDISE
2008 Keep checking the website for dates for next year, early bird tickets and some exciting line-up announcements for Wakestock's 10th Birthday. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- Wakestock 2008: (07/07/08) The mens wakeboarding event was dominated by North Americans with the winner being Adam Errington (USA) with Danny Tholander (USA) second and Aaron Rafferty (Can) third. The Friday evening Big Air competition, which was held in very choppy conditions, was won by Danny Tholander. Photos from the event will appear over the next
few days at John Wormald's website at www.totallyabersoch.co.uk
and a selection of his photos can be viewed below. Keep an eye out on
